Being a Teacher
English Teaching Grade 8 English where we cover grammar and rules that we unconsciously know and understand. We also cover foreign literature reading classics like The Three Musketeers, Chronicles of Narnia, The Little Prince and more! | World History Teaching Grade 6 and 7 World History, I get to walk students through a large chunk of history from the early hunter-gatherers all the way to the early renaissance. We talk about civilizations from India, China, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, looking at how they are all interconnected and came to influence and shape the world we live in. | Science Teaching Grade 5 and 6 Science, we get to have fun learning about the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere of the Earth and how they are all interconnected. We further get to learn and understand the human body, science equations, rocks and tons of other fun and exciting things about the world God created. |
Bible Teaching Grade 5 and 6 Bible where we will get to dig into what it means to be a Christian and how God calls us to live in this world. This will be new for me this and year and I'm excited to teach it. | Conflict Resolution I get to teach Grade 5's conflict resolution where they will learn how to solve their problems with a faith focused lens. This is where my expertise lies and I am excited to teach kids about this exciting world while also helping them learn to solve problems themselves. | And More... There are always extra things that teachers can do and our place is no different. Along with other teachers, I help with our schools running club, bible studies, and other sports clubs where we get to build into our students lives in a place outside the classroom. It also becomes places where they can impact the world around them such as raising money for soldiers in need of prosthetics simply through running. |
Serving
Youth LeadingOne of our teachers began a youth group about 3 years ago for our students once a week after school. Now, it has become a staple of our school culture where students and teachers get to play games and spend time in the word together. I'm also privileged to serve in our youth group at church where we have a growing community of teens who meet once a month after Sunday services. In these times we study the bible together, play games, and also find ways to serve the community around us. | Camp VolunteeringI got to volunteer at a camp put on by the organization Novi this summer in Eastern Ukraine. Alongside this organization, we watched as the leaders put on an incredible week of camp where kids from front line villages were able to enjoy being kids once more despite the war going on around them. |
